If anyone's still active on here, I'd be interested to know what your thoughts on the 'The End and the New Beginning' (For me, the ending definitely took an unexpectedly dark turn...) I can't wait for the Earth Prime collection, and some Fortuna books. I'm also really looking forward to Valeska and Gradin being featured!!

The runners and changelings story was awful, and the fact that Jarra had the Next of Kin stuff happen right before Wallam Crane Day explains so much about why she took such a crazy step in being the first Earth girl to apply off-world, and at such short notice. I wonder if Janet already knew that part of Jarra's backstory before she wrote the original book?
And yes, I noticed the mention of Asgard's popularity too :) and I found it super interesting that even after all Playdon's mentions of the 'expert apes and clueless exos' in archeology, the class still thought their course would be higher quality than University Earth's
Yes, I was wondering if the Helena/Paul/Kairos story might come into it somewhere. Although it feels as if we would already know if it had any links to Tellon Blaze?
Ooo I'd love a fortuna book (but also the third exodus book... ahhhh...) Part two of the story is definitely getting very interesting. I'm really looking forward to the conversation with general torrek (although, knowing jarra, it will be put off for as long as possible!)
I think the military will definitely build a more permanent earth base that doesn't have any focus on the aliens, partly because they need handicapped representation in the same way they need sector recruits, and partly so that they can build up a group of experienced handicapped officers to lead (or at least be heavily involved in) the colonisation of worlds with the right solar storm levels.
Also, I agree on the history stuff, but I think that as well as university earth getting more attention, asgard will too purely because it's where jarra studied.
YES that would be brilliant! One of my favourite things about Janet's portal future is how everything interlinks, and that would be one of the best yet, if it happens. Perhaps it'll crash initially without his involvement but then he deliberately does the thing that causes the second catastrophic failure?
I was so excited when I saw it!! Jarra and Fian will always be my favourites, and also just the fact that it's the first writing to advance beyond the end of Earth Flight. I'm still holding out hope for some longer stories about Fortuna!
I'm curious to see how the Earth data net crash impacts the story, and especially how it affects Tad. Pretty sure that'll be a major plotline in future books but other than that I really don't know. What are your ideas?
